SIRANE’s head of specialist packaging recently delivered a lecture for students at Auburn University as part of their Sustainable Biomaterials and Packaging course.
Peter Ralten delivered the online lecture to both students and staff in the US university’s Sustainable Biomaterials and Packaging Society.
Philip S. McMichael, president & co-founder of the society, said: “I know that all the students in attendance came away from the talk with an understanding of how Sirane is reimaging food packaging by utilizing biomaterials.
“Through the online lecture, we, were able to learn about the process of new product development, as well as the many challenges that present themselves when seeking to replace such a commonplace material as petroleum-based plastics.
“Meetings with companies like Sirane and individuals like yourself help show students what is possible in the real world. Students can see the principles they learn in the classroom applied, with great success, by companies like Sirane.
“Our graduate students were particularly excited to learn about the breadth and depth of the research Sirane is conducting, and I hope that we can combine Auburn University’s expertise with your team, to the benefit of both!”
Peter Ralten added: “I really enjoyed delivering this lecture, it was great to see the enthusiasm and level of knowledge which this group of students had.
“Hopefully it won’t be the last time we’re involved with the society at Auburn, and I look forward to seeing what questions they come up with next time…”
