NEXT week will see Sirane exhibit at Packaging Innovations Madrid for the first time – with a focus on food packaging, including plastic-free and sustainable packaging.
Our award-winning plastic-free packaging ‘Earthpouch’ will be a major focus when we exhibit at Packaging Innovations Madrid – which is co-hosted with Empack.
But we’ll also be focusing on our whole Earth Packaging range – including paper-based absorbent pads, as well as our more traditional product core lines such as ovenable/microwaveable cooking solutions and absorbent pads.
Now available in standard, barrier and high barrier, our Earthpouch is ideal for anyone looking to remove unnecessary plastics from their packaging.
Perfect for a range of dry and moist products – including granolas, porridge oats, grains, health/diet supplements and more – the Earthpouch is a paper-based solution with a heat-sealable coating, which is preformed into a stand-up pouch.
Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Earthpouch and Earthfilm is a plastic-free solution, a paper-based material with a plastic-free coating which is perfect for a range of products. We can supply it with a range of different barriers.
“We can supply this plastic-free material in reel format for flow-wrap- this would be our Earthfilm – as free-standing pouches – this would be our Earthpouch, and also as flat pouches, or Earthbags, so it’s available in a variety of formats.

Earlier in 2019 Thierry Soto joined the sales team at Sirane, with Spain falling under his remit – Thierry is a fluent Spanish speaker – and Thierry will be joined at Packaging Innovations Madrid by marketing manager Mark Lingard at the show.
2018 was a big year for the Earthpouch with some major industry recognition– it won a Green Apple Award, presented at the Houses of Parliament, and it also secured first place at the UK Packaging Awards in the Resource Efficient Pack of the Year category. The Earthpouch was also recognised at the Sustainable Food Awards in Amsterdam, where it finished third in the sustainable packaging category.
This year we earned official ‘Plastic-Free’ accreditation from A Plastic Planet, allowing customers to apply to use their trust-mark, and we’ve also received official endorsement from the UK Recycling Association following trials.
