SIRANE has been shortlisted in the Shropshire Business Awards 2019 in the environmental innovation category – with winners announced in June.
The company’s investment in the Earth Packaging range and plastic-free packaging – among other things – impressed the judges enough to see the us shortlisted alongside Staysafe PPE Ltd, Bridgnorth Aluminium Ltd and Border Hardwood Ltd.
Winners will be crowned on Friday, June 14, at an award-ceremony at the Telford International Centre where entrepreneur Mo Chaudry will be guest speaker.
Simon Balderson, Sirane Group MD, said: “We recently welcomed the judging panel to our headquarters in Telford, and they seemed genuinely interested in what we are doing and why, and impressed with our commitment to eco-packaging.
“While it would be great to pick up the prize, I’m sure the other shortlisted companies are equally worthy, and I look forward to hearing more about what they are doing.”

2018 was a big year for the Earthpouch with some major industry recognition– it won a Green Apple Award, presented at the Houses of Parliament, and it also secured first place at the UK Packaging Awards in the Resource Efficient Pack of the Year category. The Earthpouch was also recognised at the Sustainable Food Awards in Amsterdam, where it finished third in the sustainable packaging category.

Sirane’s constantly innovating, and the environment is at the forefront of a lot of our thinking, and so it is very pleasing to have been shortlisted in such a worth category in the Shropshire Business Awards, and allow us to shout about it to a local audience,” added Simon Balderson.
The Earthpouch is just one of a range of compostable/recyclable products and packaging solutions Sirane has developed over the years – and it has been placed in our Earth Packaging range: compostable; recyclable and sustainable.

Simon will be talking on Day 2: June 28, as part of the food packaging stream, where the morning session will be ‘bio-based and non-plastic alternatives to traditional plastic packaging’. The session will run from 9am until 12.25pm.
