SIRANE MD Simon Balderson is among the speakers at a virtual conference on sustainable packaging – the New Plastic Economy.
The keynote address, which will be on the subject of ‘The Game Changers in Food Packaging’ is part of a packed agenda, with speakers including the European Commission, the Ellen Macarthur Foundation, and A Plastic Planet.
The conference has been organised in Turkey, and speakers also include Turkish representatives from companies such as Unilever and Nestle.
Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Sirane’s been working for a number of years now on finding sustainable packaging alternative where possible. However, within food packaging, because of the testing requirements of the packaging, a truly circular economy is more difficult. There is many more materials used, because they all have different properties, which makes recycling much more of a challenge.
“I will be talking about the challenges, and how companies like Sirane are working with different materials to overcome the challenges within the food industry. “
The New Plastic Economy virtual conference takes places on February 10. Simon’s keynote address will be delivered at 5.30pm (2.30pm UK time).
