IT’S all things asparagus for Sirane later this month as we head to an agronomy day at a farm in Worcestershire held by the Asparagus Growers’ Association (AGA).
The AGA is holding a day-long event at Woodhouse Farm in Kidderminster on Thursday, June 25, offering the chance to discover more about a complicated vegetable.
Gillian Carter, sales executive for fresh produce, said: “We have a huge range of fresh produce packaging capabilities, and the agronomy day is a great opportunity to find out more about this fascinating plant, and how our packaging solutions could help.
“With asparagus commanding a high price during a short growing season in the UK, and traded in large quantities globally, there is scope for our products to make a difference.”
Presentations will include ‘Managing major asparagus diseases and decline’ and ‘World asparagus market overview’ by Dr Peter Falloon, of Aspara Pacific Ltd, New Zealand.
There will also be three workshops: a tour of the asparagus fields; understanding soil structures & erosion control; and machinery demonstrations on maximising yields.
In addition, the day offers a chance for exhibitors to show off their products, and Sirane will have a small stand where we will show some products including asparagus pads, asparagus pouches, steam-cooking bags, and shelf-life extending bags and films.
Sirane is a highly innovative packaging product development-to-manufacture company based in Telford, Shropshire. Specialisms include absorbency and cooking bags.
