SIRANE’S award-winning plastic-free packaging range will be the major focus when we exhibit at Fachpack in Germany for the first time at the end of September.
Earthpouch and Earthfilm are ideal for anyone looking to remove unnecessary plastics from their packaging – they are a plastic-free packaging solution available with a range of barriers, perfect for a range of dry and moist products.
Earthpouch is a paper-based solution with a heat-sealable coating, preformed into a stand-up pouch. It can also be provided in reel format as flow-wrap film – Earthfilm.
Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Earthpouch is a plastic-free solution, a paper-based material with a plastic-free coating which is perfect for a range of products. We can supply it with a range of different barriers, to suit your needs.
“To date, it has been used to replace plastics for granolas, porridge oats, grains, health/diet supplements, chocolate and confectionery and more. And it is not just a food packaging solution, some of our customers are in other sectors – it has potential applications in pharmaceuticals, horticultural products and more.
“If you’re serious about moving away from plastics and looking for sustainable alternatives, then this – and many of the other sustainable and recyclable products in our Earth Packaging range – might be exactly what you’re looking for.
“This is a first visit to FachPack for Sirane, and the first time we will have exhibited the Earthpouch and Earthfilm in Germany. With Germany having made significant changes to their packaging laws earlier this year – and the emphasis firmly on moving away from plastics and non-recyclable materials – we should be busy.”
2018 was a big year for the Earthpouch with some major industry recognition– it won a Green Apple Award, presented at the Houses of Parliament, and it also secured first place at the UK Packaging Awards in the Resource Efficient Pack of the Year category. The Earthpouch was also recognised at the Sustainable Food Awards in Amsterdam, where it finished third in the sustainable packaging category.
It has been endorsed by the UK Recycling Association following extensive trials and has also been certified as plastic-free by A Plastic-Planet – allowing brands to apply to use the increasingly-popular Plastic-Free trust-mark on their packaging.
Earthfilm also hit the news in July when Shropshire company Flower & White launched their new confectionery range – beating industry giants Mars and Nestle to become the first company in the confectionery sector with plastic-free packaging.
Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “The Earthpouch is a fabulous product, and we were honoured to receive industry recognition and pick-up two top awards.
“Sirane’s constantly innovating, and the environment is at the forefront of a lot of our thinking. Plastics – and perhaps more specifically removing plastics where possible – is the hot-topic, and it’s great that Sirane is able to offer this product.”
One of the questions we’re often asked is ‘how do I fill the pouch?’ We’ve also recently added a pouch-filling line to our offering, the M7, which is compatible with the Earthpouch – and there will be a working machine on our stand.
The Earthpouch is just one of a range of compostable/recyclable products and packaging solutions Sirane has developed over the years – and it has been placed in our Earth Packaging range: compostable; recyclable and sustainable.
We’re already working on enhancing and expanding the Earthpouch range, including higher-barrier pouches, ovenable versions and more – the Earthpouch is not just a product, it’s the start of a whole range of plastic-free products.
Other products in the Earth Packaging range include paper-based absorbent pads, compostable & breathable packaging films, and compostable boards.
Sirane is an innovative food packaging development-to-manufacture company, with expertise in absorbency and material science. Specialisms include bags and pouches, absorbent products, shelf-life extension and dual-ovenable products.
We also offer a wide range of absorbent pads for food packaging, cooking bags, microwave susceptor and more – and would welcome inquiries from anyone who wants to discuss any of the products in our food packaging range.
Sirane also manufactures compliant specimen packaging solutions – including 95 kPa bags and absorbent pads/pouches – which may be of interest at FachPack.
FachPack, one of Germany’s largest packaging shows, runs at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg, from September 24-26. Our stand at the show is 9-657.
We’re also exhibiting at Packaging Innovations in London from September 11-12, where we will be part of the show’s inaugural ‘Plastic-Free Land’ which has been organised by pressure group and lobbyists A Plastic Planet.
We’ll also be exhibiting at Packaging Innovations Madrid in November.
