NEW product development is at the heart of Sirane – and we’re looking for food packaging projects and problems to solve to keep our team busy during 2018.

Many of our more popular food packaging solutions were customer-driven solutions – based on a need in the market and a problem that simply needed solving.

Products recently developed as customer-driven solutions include: odour-absorbent meat pads for vac-packed meat, developed to combat confinement odour; cushioned absorbent pads for soft and delicate fruits in transportation, and multi-compartment steam-cooking bags for microwave which open during cooking.

Jeremy Haydn-Davies, sales director, said: “These are all good examples of products which were developed as a direct result of a problem within the packaging that was on the market which meant it didn’t quite work for the supply chain.

“Confinement odour, a build-up of odours which is quite natural with meat such as lamb, was so off-putting for consumers when they opened the pack they wrongly believed the meat was off – Sirane was able to find a solution to this.

“Similarly, putting seafood and sauce in a sealed bag for retail sale wasn’t always working, as the sauce was causing degradation of the fish and limiting shelf-life – a multi-compartment bag with a valve which opens during cooking was the answer.”
