SIRANE has just returned from a busy Packaging Innovations show at the NEC.
Our Earth Packaging range was once again the star of the show for us, with plenty of interest in our plastic-free and compostable packaging solutions.
And it was standing room only as our MD Simon Balderson gave a seminar in the Eco-Pack Theatre, on the topic of “Plastic food packaging: a tough act to follow. Where can plastic packaging realistically be removed from the supply chain, and what’s being done to develop solutions not currently available?”
Simon then joined the Big Carbon Debate – “this house believes that we will fail to meet net-zero carbon targets, if we ban plastic packaging” – which was the culmination of the show – and also attracted a sizeable audience.
Simon Balderson said: “Packaging Innovations was once again an outstanding show. The variety of visitors is always impressive, and once again we had people from numerous different industry sectors, and some great inquiries.
“Our Earth Packaging range includes some great products – with many others currently under development – so watch this space for some new products.”
Plastic-free packaging – and packaging that can easily be recycled – forms a key component of our ever-expanding Earth Packaging range.
Sirane’s Earth Packaging range includes our award-winning plastic-free packaging ‘Earthpouch’ – a paper-based solution with a heat-sealable coating, which is preformed into a stand-up pouch, along with a flow-wrap film Earthfilm.
Both products are available in standard, barrier and high barrier.
We’re also about to release to the market the Earthwedge – a plastic-free sandwich pack which is a replacement for PE-coated and laminated boards.
“Earthwedge is a sandwich pack, with a window, which gives the required barrier, but which is completely free of plastic,” added Simon Balderson, “Earthwedge will remove a lot of unnecessary plastic from supermarket shelves.”
We also had some new products to show – including compostable cling-film, compostable shrink-wrap film and compostable fresh produce bags.
Sirane is an innovative food packaging development-to-manufacture company, with expertise in absorbency and material science. Specialisms include bags and pouches, absorbent products, shelf-life extension and dual-ovenable products.
We’re also about to complete on the acquisition of a UK-based manufacturer of board products – Olympic based near Stroud. Key existing products include salmon boards, cake boards, U-cards, sleeves and sandwich boards.
