PLASTIC-FREE WORLD: plastic-free solutions no. 3, Earthfilm

Earthfilm - plastic-free recyclable flow-wrap film

PLASTIC-FREE World Virtual Conference & Expo begins next week – and it could be a good opportunity to find out more about our plastic-free flow-wrap film.

Earthfilm is a flow-wrap film perfect for dry and moist products. It is a paper-based film, which a water-based coating, which is free of any plastics.

Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Earthfilm is an environmentally-friendly packaging solution which can be recycled with the paper stream.

“The water-based coating allows it to seal as well as giving the required barrier properties, and we can also supply pre-formed pouches – Earthpouch.

“Our Earthfilm hit the news in France earlier this year when a major supermarket announced it was moving its pre-packed salads into a paper-based solution.

“Earthfilm has lots of potential applications we haven’t even considered yet, and we look forward to talking more with anyone interested in this film.”

The Plastic-Free World Conference & Expo has gone virtual for 2020 – with Sirane one of the companies who will now have a seminar live streamed.

Two events had been scheduled by organisers Trans-Global Events – Cologne in June, which had already been rescheduled, and Atlanta in November. Both were postponed and replaced with a virtual event which runs November 9-10.

Sirane MD Simon Balderson will deliver a virtual seminar on plastic-free packaging solutions – with a particular focus on coated board and coated papers, and how they can be used to replace plastics within the food packaging supply chain.

Sirane is an innovative packaging development-to-manufacture company, with expertise in absorbency and material science. Specialisms include bags and pouches, absorbent products, shelf-life extension and dual-ovenable products.

It has four main divisions: food packaging; medical & healthcare; horticultural and industrial. The company is based in Telford, Shropshire, with additional manufacturing in Guadalajara (Mexico) and Moscow (Russia).
