PLASTIC-FREE World Virtual Conference & Expo begins next week – and a recent development from Sirane offers an amazing solution for protecting young trees.
Tree-guards are traditionally made from plastic – and are used in their millions globally to protect saplings during the first few years of growth.
Our Earthboard tree-guards use a unique water-resistant board, which is additionally coated to give all the properties required to last outside for many years.
Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Drive up and down any motorway in the UK, and you’ll see plastic tree guards, well we can now offer a viable alternative.
“Our tree-guards have been in development for a while, with design alterations along the way to ensure they survive in the wild for as long as is needed.”
Tree-guards are commonly used around the world to protect young saplings. They are generally left in place for at least three years and need to resist all weathers.
Simon Balderson added: “Another benefit of our Earthboard tree-guards is that they don’t need to be collected at the end of their life. They will last the requisite amount of time in the wild but will eventually just rot away into the soil.
“In larger woods and forests, this could save a considerable amount of time.”
Our tree-guards are supplied in green as standard – but could be supplied in almost any colour – and can also be supplied with custom printing/branding if required.
The Plastic-Free World Conference & Expo has gone virtual for 2020 – with Sirane one of the companies who will now have a seminar live streamed.
Two events had been scheduled by organisers Trans-Global Events – Cologne in June, which had already been rescheduled, and Atlanta in November. Both were postponed and replaced with a virtual event which runs November 9-10.
Sirane MD Simon Balderson will deliver a virtual seminar on plastic-free packaging solutions – with a particular focus on coated board and coated papers, and how they can be used to replace plastics within the food packaging supply chain.
Sirane is an innovative packaging development-to-manufacture company, with expertise in absorbency and material science. Specialisms include bags and pouches, absorbent products, shelf-life extension and dual-ovenable products.
It has four main divisions: food packaging; medical & healthcare; horticultural and industrial. The company is based in Telford, Shropshire, with additional manufacturing in Guadalajara (Mexico) and Moscow (Russia).
