THE inaugural IFEA show in Johannesburg proved a great success for Sirane, with innovative products pulling a wide variety of potential customers to the stand on the UK pavilion.
Sirane Southern Africa director Stacey Loader was joined by sales director Jeremy Haydn-Davies and Deana Plant for the food show aimed at the whole African continent.
Once again it was Sirane’s innovative products – the products that have the potential to add real value to company’s sales – that were the real talking points on the stand.
Stacey said: “We had a wide variety of visitors to the stand and some very positive enquiries, including some major companies. But it was interesting to talk to all the people who came and share our innovations with them – there was a real buzz.
“As we expected shelf-life was a hot-topic. Our Sira-Flex Shelf-Life bags and films had already generated a lot of interest, and it was no different at the IFEA show. These incredible bags – which are also available as whole lug/pallet liners – can significantly extend the shelf-life of fresh produce, and are a 100% natural product.
“There was also a lot of interest in cooking bags, both oven and microwave, with people looking for new ways to present food to customers which adds value to the product.
“And there was lots of media interest, Sirane’s message is reaching more and more people.”
Sirane Southern Africa’s growth in the last 12 months has been spectacular, and it culminated recently with the opening of offices and warehousing in Cape Town.
Simon Balderson, Sirane managing director, said: “Joining the UK pavilion at IFEA was a great way for us to access new customers and new markets and it will help us strengthen our presence in this region as well as in other countries in Southern Africa.
“The warehouse has sufficient space for several container loads of products to be shipped from Sirane UK and it will help us provide great service to our South African customers.”
Key international markets for Sirane include packaging for fruit and vegetables, meat and seafood. Other growing markets include over-the-counter cooking bags. In addition, Sirane’s high quality absorbent meat pads also generated a high level of interest at IFEA.
Sirane is an innovative packaging design, development, manufacture and solutions company which specialises in areas including absorbency and ovenable/microwaveable products, compostable packaging, films, boards, pads, and much more.
The company now has offices in the UK, Turkey, the Middle East and South Africa – and it also has medical and healthcare, horticultural and industrial divisions.
