Barbecue bags can be a very versatile packaging option

BBQ bags, also available as retail packs

IT’S barbecue time – and a ‘barbecue ready meal’ packaging solution from Sirane could revolutionise the way retailers offer ‘barbecue’ food for sale when the sun comes out.

The Sira-Cook Supreme bag is a cooking bag perfect for both oven and barbecue, as well as hot-plate or griddle, and can be fully heat-sealed allowing it to be the perfect retail solution.

Sirane can offer the bag in four sizes as standard, and with or without a non-stick siliconized layer. It offers a very versatile packaging solutions, as it can be used in a number of ways.

Jeremy Haydn-Davies, sales director, said: “This bag is the perfect summer solution for retailers – it can be filled, heat-sealed and shipped as a ready meal that can go straight on the barbecue. Or it can be filled at the counter, and handed to the customer as a fresh ‘ready meal’…. If fact, butchers counters can even make up a batch as a ‘grab and go’ meal.

“We can also supply the bags with the siliconized layer perforated, allowing flavoured wood chips to be placed in the compartment below, creating a fabulous ‘smoking bag’.

« But the Sira-Cook Supreme bag is also ovenable – which might be a real bonus with the unreliable British climate. The bag’s versatility could truly be a distinct advantage.

« Imagine a retailer being able to sell a steak with a sauce inside a bag that the user will be able to cook directly on a barbecue – with a second bag alongside it with mixed veg in a sauce for the vegetarian in the family on the same barbecue – that’s what the Sira-Cook Supreme bag will offer. And we could offer the whole thing in a ‘smoky version’.

“Britain hosted more than 130 million barbecues in 2015 – two out of every three households in the UK own a barbecue – but although many people think they have mastered cooking on a barbecue, few have. Using BBQ bags could mean that more people around the cook are able to serve quality meals when the sun finally shines.”

“With the average UK spend on a barbecue at a whopping £35, we can make sure it is money well spent, and not money spent on food that sounds better than it turns out.”

Oven/BBQ bags also form part of the Thinking-Cooking portfolio – Sirane’s retail kitchen and cooking range – allowing the bags to be stocked as a stand-alone product. Other products in the range include steam-cooking bags for oven/microwave, absorbent oven-grill liners, slow-cooker liners, nylon roasting bags, deli-bags, and breathable bags for fresh produce.
