A SUPPLIER of ‘fresh convenience food’ into the Benelux region has added a first burger to its range, using Sirane’s susceptor technology.

Nonna supplies fresh food to order into convenience stores and cafes across Belgium and Luxembourg. Products include antipasti, cooked and uncooked stuffed pasta, soups, wraps and sandwiches.

Every day 10 refrigerated vehicles travel through Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to deliver directly to nearly a hundred convenience stores and cafeterias in large cities such as Brussels, Antwerp, Liège, Ghent, Namur, Bruges, Luxembourg and Charleroi.

Nonna only produce to order, they make only fresh food.

Sirane’s susceptor technology has allowed Nonna to add a freshly cooked burger to their range, with an effective way to heating in store.

The fresh burger sits in top of the susceptor sleeves, which is flat, and the product is flow-wrapped. The customer can then remove the packaging, place the burger inside the sleeve, and heat the product.

All the instructions are printed on the susceptor sleeve. The susceptor ensures the burger is lightly toasted even in a microwave…

Karl Heggarty, Sirane’s global sales manager, said: “Nonna has developed a great product which I am sure will prove very popular.

“Susceptor is a great way of supplying food which can be heated or crisped in a microwave without it going soggy. We have formats ideal for paninis, burritos etc, as well as for crisping pizza bases.”
