PLASTIC-FREE World Virtual Conference & Expo begins next week – and Sirane has some impressive developments to talk about, including our new salmon boards.
Our new eco-friendly salmon boards are recyclable, compostable and plastic-free.
Sirane’s new Earthboard Salmon Board is a water-resistant coated board, designed to do the same job as the traditional salmon boards commonly used – but using recyclable materials which are much more environmentally-friendly.
Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Salmon boards – and boards for other fish and some cooked meats – are an integral part of the packaging solution – and yet the majority of boards used cannot be recycled because of their construction.
“We’ve worked with a seafood company to determine how to meet the exacting requirements of such a board, and still supply an eco-friendly version.
“Our boards perform exactly the same as the gold/silver boards which are widely used, if not better, but with one key advantage – they can be recycled, or industrially composted, they offer a truly sustainable packaging solution.”
Our Earthboard Salmon Boards are available in both standard and custom sizes and in any non-metallic colour. We can also offer random and registered print. Our standard thickness is 830 microns/555gsm, but other grades are available.
Boards are suitable for freezing and thawing – and offer excellent moisture resistance. The Earthboards can also be used for vacuum skin-packed meat.
The Plastic-Free World Conference & Expo has gone virtual for 2020 – with Sirane one of the companies who will now have a seminar live streamed.
Two events had been scheduled by organisers Trans-Global Events – Cologne in June, which had already been rescheduled, and Atlanta in November. Both were postponed and replaced with a virtual event which runs November 9-10.
Sirane MD Simon Balderson will deliver a virtual seminar on plastic-free packaging solutions – with a particular focus on coated board and coated papers, and how they can be used to replace plastics within the food packaging supply chain.
