ENVIRONMENTALLY friendly packaging proved the big draw at Fachpack as Sirane exhibited at the popular Nuremberg packaging show for the first time.
Organisers had made ‘environmentally-friendly packaging’ the key theme – with Germany at the forefront of recent European changes to packaging laws – and it proved to be the main topic of discussion for visitors to our stand.
Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Fachpack was an interesting show for us, and very successful. Visitors to the stand came from across central Europe, as well as further afield, and were all looking for one thing…. sustainable packaging.
“The show organisers had done a great job in signposting companies offering eco solutions, and it was a busy show – so Sirane got lots of interest.”
Our award-winning plastic-free packaging range was the major focus on our stand. Earthpouch and Earthfilm are ideal for anyone looking to remove unnecessary plastics from their packaging – they are a plastic-free packaging solution available with a range of barriers, perfect for a range of dry and moist products.
The material is perfect for dry and moist foods – such as granolas and cereals, nuts, snacks and more. But it also has plenty of potential outside of the food industry – we also have customers packing health supplements, tablets, and protein powders.
Earthpouch is a paper-based solution with a heat-sealable coating, preformed into a stand-up pouch. It can also be provided in reel format as flow-wrap film – Earthfilm.

2018 was a big year for the Earthpouch with some major industry recognition– it won a Green Apple Award, presented at the Houses of Parliament, and it also secured first place at the UK Packaging Awards in the Resource Efficient Pack of the Year category. The Earthpouch was also recognised at the Sustainable Food Awards in Amsterdam, where it finished third in the sustainable packaging category.
It has been endorsed by the UK Recycling Association following extensive trials and has also been certified as plastic-free by A Plastic-Planet – allowing brands to apply to use the increasingly-popular Plastic-Free trust-mark on their packaging.

Fachpack 2019, which took place at the Messe Nuremberg from September 24-26, was visited by 44,000 people, with 1,591 exhibitors spread across 12 halls.
Sirane’s next exhibition is Packaging Innovations Madrid in November, which will be followed by a return to Packaging Innovations Birmingham at the NEC in February.
