ECO TREE-SHELTERS: Sirane staff join CPRE Shropshire charity tree-planting event

Sirane staff helped CPRE Shropshire plant trees using our plastic-free sustainable tree-shelters

SIRANE staff joined a CPRE Shropshire charity tree-planting event in Shrewsbury at the weekend at which our sustainable & plastic-free tree-shelters were being used.

Our tree-guards are a sustainable, recyclable and eco-friendly alternative to what is commonly used to protect saplings – and CPRE decided to use our eco tree-shelters.

Our Earthboard tree-guards use a unique water-resistant board, which is additionally coated to give all the properties required to last outside for many years.

More than 2 million trees are planted every year in the UK alone – meaning a massive amount of plastic could be removed from the environment.

Simon Balderson, Sirane MD, said: “Sirane’s staff joined the CPRE event and enjoyed themselves in what was a beautiful February Shropshire morning, perfect for planting trees.

“Our eco-tree shelters are a great environmentally friendly solution, allowing trees to protect trees, and it was great to see a local charity taking to the decision to use our shelters.”

Tree-guards are commonly used around the world to protect young saplings. They are generally left in place for at least three years and need to resist all weathers.

Our Earthboard tree-guards don’t need to be collected at the end of their life. They will last the requisite amount of time in the wild but will eventually just rot away into the soil. In larger woods and more remote forests, this could save a considerable amount of time.

Our tree-guards are supplied in green as standard – but could be supplied in almost any colour – and can also be supplied with custom printing/branding if required. Standard sizes are 60cm, 90cm, 1.2m and 1.5m. We can also supply shrub guards.

The tree-planting was part of CPRE’s Shropshire Hedgerow Project 2022-23 and took place at Rodington, Shrewsbury, on Sunday, February 12.

CPRE Shropshire is planting hedges on over 20 sites this winter in a project which last from  December until February – the sites range from working farms (arable and livestock) to smallholdings, cemeteries and others.  Some are up in the Shropshire Hills, others are down in the flatter ground around Telford and Shrewsbury.

CPRE Shropshire is the county branch of the national charity Our aim is to promote the beauty, tranquillity and diversity of Shropshire’s landscape by encouraging environmentally sustainable use of land and other resources in the county’s towns and countryside.
