SIRANE’s NPD lead Rachel McKenna was one of the guest speakers at the Specialty Papers Europe conference earlier this week.
The online event was tagged as Europe’s leading conference dedicated to the paper and packaging industry, with other speakers including Transcend Packaging and FiberLean Technologies Ltd.
Sirane has been at the forefront of developing paper/board-based alternatives to plastic, and Rachel talked about her projects developing Earthfilm for fresh salads, Earthwedge, and Earthboard salmon boards.
The Earthpouch is our plastic-free flow-wrap film for fresh salads, the Earthwedge is a multi-award-winning plastic-free sandwich skillet, and the Earthboard is a plastic-free recyclable salmon board. All of these products can be recycled in the paper recycling stream.
Rachel McKenna said: “These have been great projects to work on, and in all cases we have successfully developed viable alternatives to plastic using paper and board, so it was great to share our work with such a receptive audience.”
