SIRANE is exhibiting at the World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo in Hamburg for the first time – and some of our product range will seem quite familiar…
But we’re also introducing a range of sustainable, eco-friendly solutions.
Sirane acquired the oven bags and film business of Terinex Ltd in 2020 – a well-known name in the packaging industry, supplying a range of polyester products into retail, food service, airlines industry and more.
Terinex exhibited at the WTCE many times. But for Sirane it’s a first, and an opportunity to introduce the rest of our product range to a new audience – and in particular the products within our Earth Packaging range.
Karl Heggarty, head of global sales, said: “Our polyester ovenable bags and films are well-known in the industry, and have proved ever popular.
“But Sirane can offer much more besides, and we have many packaging solutions perfect for travel catering and anyone supplying into the sector.
“And much of our work in recent years has been in developing recyclable and plastic-free packaging alternatives – something which has been in high demand in the travel catering sector, which uses a lot of packaging.”
Plastic-free solutions include our paper-based recyclable stand-up pouch Earthpouch – suitable for snacks, nuts etc. as well as non-food items.
We can also supply an ovenable version of this product – Earthpouch Supreme – which can be used to heat/re-heat food inflight.
Also available as flow-wrap film, Earthfilm, all of the products mentioned are both plastic-free and easily recyclable as part of the paper recycling stream.
Karl Heggarty added: “Our Earth Packaging range is very popular, and everything within the range is either easily recyclable or compostable.”
Compostable products of interest include cling-film & pallet wrap.
Sirane also offers a range of recyclable/compostable board-based products. This includes recyclable alternatives to PE-coated board/cards – such as, for example, U-cards, J-cards etc. which protect/cradle foods.
“All of our board products can be offered as an eco-friendly version – barrier coatings offering the required grease/moisture resistance – but which allow the product to be easily recycled in the paper stream,” added Karl.
“Often snacks such as brownies, flapjacks, or even sandwiches, come with a card to give a bit of rigidity in the pack. And often, because of the plastic barrier coating, it cannot be recycled – well we change that…”
Sirane also offers a range of microwave susceptor packaging. Susceptor allows foods such as paninis, burritos etc, to be crisped in a microwave.
Susceptor is not suitable for airline catering – it is microwave only.
And if you are interested in the polyester oven bags and films – we can now supply a version which is made from 30% post-consumer recycled material.
